We now offer a new school age program for Kindergarten through 4th grade (10 years). Our full day program offers distance learning support in our newly renovated school age classroom. Children receive support with their online school tasks, zoom meetings and homework, and participate in the group activities in their 'after school'  time. Children bring in their school-issued electronic devices, and parents support the program by communicating all necessary login / schedule information. As per our Corona procedures, our school age children stay with their group and teachers, and do not mix with our other classes. 

When online school is done for everyone, the school age room focuses on the general development and wellbeing of our students:

Our Rainbow room operates for school-age before and after school care, release days and summer break, following the Minneapolis Public Schools schedule. Our program can help boost academic performance by providing homework help when needed in hopes of filling any learning gaps. We provide a safe, structured environment for the children to thrive in. Statistically, children who are in after school enrichment programs benefitted emotionally and behaviorally from having a positive connection with other children. Our program helps children learn the concepts of responsibility, sense of belonging, open-mindedness, leadership skills and independence. We provide healthy snacks and meals and provide our school age children of a variety of experiences. During the summer, we take walks to nearby parks, go to our local pool, have water day once a week and go on near-weekly fieldtrips. We try to provide a positive and fun environment for the children to learn and grow.

Summer Schedule and School Release days:

6:30-7:45 Welcoming, drop off, free play

7:45-8:45 Breakfast

8:45-10:00 Small group activities, large group circle time, discussing new ideas, planned activities

10:00-11:30 Outdoor play or large muscle play in the gym

11:30-12:15 Prepare or lunch, lunch

12:15-2:00 Quiet time activities, small group, table games, reading books, coloring

2:00-3:30 Outdoor play or large muscle play in the gym

3:30-4:00 Snack

4:00-5:00 Large group activities

5:00-5:30 Free play, small group activities

5:30-6:00 Outdoor play or large muscle play in the gym, free play departure
